The endothelial cells, the inner lining of the vessel are damaged. There is no complete perforation – no risk of hemorrhage. Coagulated blood looks darker. Erythema and edema are signs of cellular damage (blood walls) that recruit the immune system to eliminate the damaged cells. After collapse of mainly small blood vessels they disappear (vasoconstriction), but they may reappear if sufficient damage is not done to the walls. The skin around should stay intact and undamaged! Phagocytosis – the process of elimination of small damaged particles and debris (swallowing) by the white blood cells, which are recruited from the skin and out of the blood vessels to the damaged tissue area. Melanin absorption is marginal at 1064 nm, so dark skin and even tanned skin is protected. The backflow of blood in the legs can increase venous blood pressure resulting in blood pools, vessels malformation, dilatation and varicosity. Resultant dilatation – dilated veins are visible. The melanin in the hair shaft heats up and conducts the heat to the surrounding follicular cells. After their damage, the immune system is recruited, causing erythema and/or edema in small circles just around the follicles. The skin around should stay intact and undamaged! The cells at the bulge give rise to a new bulb in the transaction from telogen to anagen. Germ cells at the bottom part of the new bulb give rise to a new hair shaft. In anagen, the full hair shaft with a lot of melanin is present for maximal absorption. Catagen is a short transient phase. In telogen, most hair shafts will be shed off. Even when present, the contact between them and the follicular cells is very loose. Only a few germinative cells are there, the rest of the bulb is degenerated. This slide demonstrates the possibility that after 1 session (occasionally 2), there will be no hair clearance, and even larger number of hair.
