9 A Unit 5 Films Welcome to the unit

Teaching objectives:
①knowledge objective: To understand vocabulary relating to films;
②ability objective: To learn how to express one’s wishes.
③emotional objective: To have a better understanding of the film industry and cultivate their cultural sense.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1: Lead – in
1. Show students some videos about some types of films
2: Guessing games
Show some pictures and let the students guess the types of films as quickly as possible.
Step 2:Presentation
1.Show students the picture of Titanic on the ppt to teach new words “actor, actress, superstar, Hollywood”
2.Then suppose you are the director, what you will say in the following situations:
①The actors are ready for the performance: _Stand by!_.
②The actors have done a good job: Good take!.
③The actors didn’t do a good job: Take two ! .
④The actors start to perform: Action ! .
Step3:Practice a dialogue
1.Ask the students who they would like to be if they are given a chance to be a member of the film industry. The teacher explains the dialogue in Part B.
2.Work in pairs and then ask the students to act the dialogue out.(此教学环节,学生根据所学内容,灵活运用,自由发挥,锻炼了学生自主学习的能力。)
Step 4: Listen to the tape and then answer the questions about Eddie and hobo.
Step 5: Work in pairs and then act the dialogue out.

Step 6: Work in the group of four and film the dialogue between Eddie and Hobo.

Choose the suitable films to watch! Watch the films at weekends or on holiday!
Step 8: Homework1. Recite the comic strips. 2. Preview the Reading.
