万方数据 万方数据 Abstract For many Chinese language foreign learners, experience of the target language has traditionally been limited to opportunities created by the teacher in the classroom, drawing on such resources as textbooks, CDs and videos. In the 21st Century, the internet has become a new medium of communication that is shaping both the processes and the products of communication. Because computers have opened up new opportunities for communication between both learners and teachers and among Chinese language users themselves, many teachers see great potential in computer-mediated Chinese teaching and learning. The present article makes a survey and research on Chinese language network learners, online courses of Chinese language as second language and a few typical websites of Chinese courses and learning resources. Summarizes the advantages and limitations of network-based Chinese language teaching and learning, then makes improvement suggestions. In the meantime, the article sums up the basic elements of Chinese online courses building, the principles of network-based Chinese language courses and courseware designing as well. At the end, the article offers a conception of interactive mode between Chinese language learners and teachers in online virtual classes.
