The selected chapter has 10230 words totally. In this chapter, the author of the book through excerpts from Louisa’s journals and letters between 1982 and 1985 mainly recorded her life experience whic h had an important influence on her thought and her writing. This report analyzes main difficulties encountered in the translation practice and explores feasible solutions, which aims to study how to meet the readers’ double needs of information acquisition and literary aesthetic appreciation. To address this problem, the translator adopts the method of overcoming translationese to make the target readers smoothly receive original messages and ensure they are able to communicate with Louisa without any barriers. On the basis of their understanding of figure’s life experience, the translator then adopts the method of retaining writing features of figure’s journals and letters to present readers a genuine understanding of Louisa’s mind, quality and temperament and to meet their needs of literary aesthetic appreciation. Therefore, this report illustrates how to overcome translationese from two perspectives- the understanding and presentation of the words or phrases and how to deal with the difference between English and Chinese, and it analyses how to retain features of journals and letter
