Penny Penny Dreadful ——Ghost stories in the network Postgraduate：Yang Sikang Supervisor Professor：Hai Libo Major：Folklore Orientation：Folk literature and art Grade：2013 Abstract when talking about the folklore，people always thought it was just all old story or all antiaue only mentioned bY books．Such opinions caused bY limited ways of cultural transmission in the old times．One is a vivid interpretation----reality show．The audience is only part of villagers in some village．The others are written records collected bY some scholars who compiled cultural folklore and handed them down．However，in the time of Internet，the cultural transmission and exchange have become much easier than before，the range of cultural transmission was no smaller any more．A performance record can be watched bY thousands of people．It shows that the audience is no longer limited bY location and time．A story can be posted on the network and read by thousands of people．Under such a circumstance，folklore，especially many different kinds of folk literature composed by important elements of the motif have become more and more vivid．Among these，there is one important therne————t11e ghost story．Ghosts and ghost stories are important parts of modem folk literatures．The storyline of the ghost story and people’S spirit of soul hidden in the story are two important research objects for folklore scholars．The time of network makes these stories sDread faster,wider and much well．completed．The author wants to break through the barriers of the real world and the spiritual world，and take a furtive glance at the actions of these ancient beings in the spiritual and cultural fields．We always think that we have to go to remote mountainous area，barrier inhabited areas finding the”true”folk story，but in fact in the practical field investigation，people who live in most remote places can still have connections with modem society with modern social communication devices．The author believes whether folklorists，scholars or
