The glochidi of Lamp rotulaf ibrosa develop to m turity in the outer gill of fem le nd re expelled to the outside in
winter, nd then, the m ture glochidi re p r sitized to the gill of fish host nd st rt the p r sitic met morphosis de
velopment. The p r sitic period l sts bout 4 mont hs. T he inner nd outer byssuses dis ppe r fter p r sitizing for 3
d ys. The foots develop fter 35 d ys. The intest ine, dductor muscle, nephridium nd gill nl ge develop fter 90 d ys.
The shells become thick nd protrusive. The glochidi become l rv e w ith size of 25337 ! 27326 ! 17996m in
the next spring, t hen le ve the gill of fish host, nd st rt their independent life.
