暨南大学硕士论文 暨南大学硕士论文 II II Abstract Optofluidic technology has experienced a rapid development and become a new research focus in the last two decades. In an optofluidic chip, different parts are integrated together to realize the function of a laboratory, which can be called lab on a chip. As a combination of microfluidics and optics, optofluidcs has many merits. Such as simple fabrication, easy operation, large tunability, low cost, more reliable and powerful. It can realize functions that look impossible in conventional optical systems. In this project, we proposed a tunable optofluidic thermal lens (TOTL) using laser induced thermal gradient in microfluidic chip. In section 1, there is a general introduction of MEMS and microfluidic techniques, followed by a description of optofluidics. The focus of this part is tunable optofluidic elements—tunable waveguide and optofluidic lens. By discussing the existing designs of optofluidics, we can find out the advantages and disadvantages of previous methods. Section 2 is the main part of this project which includes theories and experiments. Firstly, the schematic design of TOTL is described. Then it is theoretically demonstrated using conjugate heat transfer and ray tracing simulation. Some fabrication techniques and test methods used in this project are also introduced briefly in the first part. The experimental section includes temperature measurement and reconfigurable focusing test. We measured the 2D temperature profile inside the microfluidic chip using temperature dependence of Rhodamine B fluorescence. The focal length can be tuned from about 1.3mm to infinite. We can also deflect the focal point through an asymmetric temperature profile. The tunability can be realized by either changing the flow velocity or modulating the pump laser.
