With the development of economic basis and science and technology, modern track and field sports have entered an unprecedented era. The international track and field sport has showed a multicolor growing tendency and the athletes’ competitive levels are also on the rise. At present, Chinas overall competitive level track and field item in Asian leading position, but compared with sports power also has the big gap. If Chinas athletics want to be world strong powers, we need to rely on the provinces, municipalities to work together. Jilin Province has achieved brilliant results, and competitive strength has always been in the upper level of the country in the 70 s. It has also trained a lot of elite athletes for the country and has made great contributions to this cause. However, since Recent the national games, the level of competitive track and field sports in Jilin Province declined. It exposes various problems, such as the decrease of advantageous items and Projects to reduce, inadequate funding and field in our province make people worrisome. Therefore, how to rapidly improve the level of track and field in our province becomes an urgent problem for us to solve. In this paper, different research methods such as literature review, Investigation interview, Logic analysis, mathematical statistics has been adopted. The study subjects are the previous achievements and rankings of Jilin track and field athletes in the 3th to 11th National Games, Meanwhile the paper chooses the professional teams in Jilin province, part-time coaches in sports training school, professional athletes and related experts as the survey subjects. This paper tries to conduct a deep and systematic research on the present situation of competitive track and field in Jilin province.
