Now I’m gonna to show you the several artistic styles that mentioned in our test.This will include the origin,the features . Gothic What is Gothic? First of all, literally, it contains three kinds of meaning. First, in the building of the Gothic architectural style, such as the cathedral, it always has the tall vaulted ceiling beams,sharp and structure. Secondly, in the Gothic literature is used to describe those lonely and dark place(such as the abandoned Castle) as the background of exotic, mysterious adventure story. Third, the Gothic also represent a very ornate font(华丽字体) style of printing and writing. The first “Gothic” has been used to distinguish the art style of the Middle Ages (12 ~ 15 century) from the Renaissance. It came from the German Gothic tribe that invasion Italy and collapse the Roman Empire in de 3 ~ 5th century. In the 15th century, the Italians had the idea to revitalize the culture of ancient Rome and thus set off a brilliant Renaissance. As the Italian has a strange hatred of Gothic tribe for the destruction of the history of the Roman Empire,so in order to separate these two periods, they called the artistic style of the Middle Ages as the Gothic, for Italian, which means savage(野蛮). Though the original meaning of Gothic has a negative connotation,in fact a significant number of beautiful works are created at this time. In 12th century, because of the progress in building technology, a large number of Gothic-style church was born, the most famous one is Pariss Notre Dame Cathedral (Notre Dame).
