This means that if you go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than giving the eulogy. ---- Jerry Seinfeld 二、将英语演讲课纳入教学计划的重要性 1. 有助于提高学生综合应用英语的能力 Improvement of students’ aptitude in using English 2. 有助于学生综合素质的培养 Cultivation of students’ comprehensive qualities 3. 英语教学改革的新课型 An innovative course in the pedagogical reform 三、英语演讲课中的素质培养 1. 语言素质（language competence ） 2. 文化素质（cultural quality） 3. 心理素质（psychological traits） 4. 思辩能力（speculative thinking ability） 5. 交际能力（communicative capability） 6. 道德修养（moral integrity ） 1.语言素质 1）说：培养学生使用较规范的英语、表达具有一定 深度的思想的能力，是口语课基础上的提高； 2）写：以说促写、以写促说，通过写作训练学生逻 辑表达和分析问题的能力； 3）读：阅读 + 朗读； 4）听：含“欣赏性倾听”、“同情性倾听”、“理 解性倾听”、“批评性倾听”。倾听的过程就是 培养批判性思维的过程。 2.文化素质 1）广博的知识：准备演讲的过程就是积累、巩固 深化、拓展知识的过程； 2）文化意识：培养学生双文化、多元文化和跨文 化的意识，避免民族中心主义（ethnocentrism） 和文化霸权主义情绪。 3.心理素质 1）属智力因素范畴，包括动机、兴趣、胆略、意 志、情感、性格等； 2）心理素质由后天习得； 3）英语演讲课可成为锤炼心理素质的最佳场所。 4.思辩能力 演讲及答问有助于促进学生的思辩能力，即批判性 思维的形成和发展。具体体现在： 1）思路清晰，逻辑严密； 2）反应敏捷，思想独到； 3）角度新颖，多向思维。 5.交际能力 交际目的（objectives of communication）： 1）信息传递（informative） 2）说服劝导（persuasive） 3）愉悦身心（entertaining） 交际手段（means of communication）： 1）语言交际（verbal communication） 2）非语言交际（nonverbal communication）
