PAGE PAGE III Abstract ABSTRACT Lattice Boltzmann Method (LBM) is a new calculation and simulation method of fluid mechanics, which developed from the lattice gas automata (LGA). As a new approach for study of complex fluid system, LBM has been widely applied in various fields and become one of the most promising methods in current area of researching fluid system. This method is simple, parallel, and its boundary condition is easy to implement. So LBM is especially suitable for calculation on PC-cluster and even Internet Grid computing, and has high precision and accuracy. With the high-speed development of economy in our country, lifestyle changes, environmental pollution and population aging society, the incidence of cardiovascular disease is increasing year by year, including blood embolism which account for larger proportion of cardiovascular disease. In human blood, the number of red blood cells is the most, so we can view red blood cells as the most important factors that affect blood flow. Thrombus formation mechanism is complex; researches have shown that, the aggregation of red blood cells can increase the risk of thrombosis. In the initial stage of thrombosis, red blood cells can accelerate thrombosis along the transverse development of blood vessels. Thrombosis therapy has a variety of methods, such as antithrombotic, thrombolysis, interventional therapy and surgical therapy, different types and different parts of thrombosis disease treat with different methods. However, all those methods may lead to bleeding. In this paper, basing on the D2Q9 lattice Boltzmann model, we establish tapered vessel and bifurcated vessel respectively, study the effect on thrombosis of pulsation. Our progress includes the following five parts: The accuracy and stability of D2Q9 of lattice Boltzmann model was verified by simulating Poiseuille flow and sedimentation of a single particle in a vertical channel. Introducing a new method, Lattice-type-dependent momentum-exchange
