Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 194 cases of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyposis treated by endoscop ic surgery. Results: In the 72 cases of chronic sinusitis, 29 were accompanied with asthma (2 cases of singula-sinusiti 19 cases of multi-sinusitis and 8 entire-sinusitis) and 16 with bronchitis (8 cases of multi-sinusitis and 8 entire-sinusitis). Chronic sinusitis varied very significantly in degree with different incidence rates of lower airway inflammatory diseases ( P0. 05). In the122 cases of nasal polyposis, 16 were accompanied with asthma inclod small airway airflow obstraction (2 case of TypeⅠ, 11 Type Ⅱ, 6 TypeⅢ) and 10 with bronchitis airflow obstraction (0 cases of TypeⅠ, 8 Type Ⅱ, and 2 Type Ⅲ). There was conspicuou direct correlation between the type of nasal polyposis and the incidence of lower airway inflammatory diseases ( P 0. 05). Neither was there between the groups of asthma and bronchitis in the incidence of lower airway inflammatory diseases ( P 0. 05). Both of the two team was conspicuou direct correlation with wheather ostium obstraction（0＜r＜1，P＜0.05). Conclusion: Although the mechanism of the correlation between upper and lower airway inflammatory diseases is not yet clear, chronic sinusitis and nasal polyposismay share some characteristics in involving the lower airway.
