The other side of the picture is quite the opposite. 2.quite the opposite 完全相反，截然不同 The other side of the picture is totally different. The other side of the picture is quite another case. case n.情况，实例 Life on a desert island is wretched. You either starve to death or live like Robinson Crusoe, waiting for a  boat which never comes.  1.either..or..要么..要么..(二者必居其一) either make or break it 不成功则成仁 2. starve to death; scare to death; fight to death; be sick to death (of sth)讨厌死了，烦透了 starve for 极度渴望=be starved of 那个失去母亲的孩子极度渴望爱。 The motherless child starved for love. 3.waiting for a bus which never comes Conclusion: Perhaps there is an element of truth in both these pictures, but few us have had the opportunity to find out. 举个栗子： Passage 2：Two men who recently spent five days on a coral  island wished they had stayed there longer. 1.虚拟语气；陈述语气；祈使语气 wish+宾语从句（subjunctive mode：难以实现、根本不可能实现的事情） hope × 主+wish+(that)+主+did/were (现在) had done (过去) would do (将来) 总结：1、虚拟语气靠谓语的时态变化来实现。2.虚拟语气的时态在正常表达的时态上向前倒推一个时态。 一般现在时→一般过去时: do/does → did 一般过去时→过去完成时: did → had done 一般将来时→过去将来时: will do → would do Practice： I wish I (am) a bird. answer: were I really wish you (not say) that. answer: hadn’t said They were taking a badly damaged boat from the  Virgin Islands to Miami to have it repaired. During th
