It is caused by Barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV) that is vectored by aphids. A kinase protein encoding gene TiDPK1, which is derived from Thinopyrum intermedium, is an important gene involved in BYDV resistance in wheat-T. intermedium translocation lines. In this study, we used yeast two-hybrid and bimolecular fluorescence complementation assays to explore the relationship between TiDPK1 and coat protein (CP) of BYDV (BYDV-CP). The results proved that the protein TiDPK1 interacted with BYDV-CP, which may offer an insight to the resistance mechanism of TiDPK1.
