intercultural communicative competence can be cultivated by enhancing communicators’ adaptation competence and relevance competence. It clarifies the ways to develop intercultural communicative competence with the examples in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teaching classes.
In a word, this research analyzes the process of successful intercultural communication from the perspective of the Adaptation-Relevance Theory, which is regarded as a new trial with both theoretical and practical significance. The research indicates that Adaptation- Relevance Theory better elaborates the production and interpretation process of intercultural communication and it plays an important role in facilitating foreign language teaching and cultivating intercultural communicative competence.
