Abstract
Feng Qi divided China’s traditional philosophy into four stages according to the inner link of the Debate on Human Nature and Practice, Mind and Human Nature. He made a brief retrospection of it ,He also analyzed the view on human essence of Marxism in four
aspects,which establishes the foundation of dialectical materialism for
his theory.
Mr Feng absorbed the theory of human nature of China’s philosophical history and Marxism; and proposed his own unique theory of human essence. There are three sections about it. First, human essence manifests a two-way course of turning natural character (in-itself) into moral character (for-itself); moral character returns to natural character in another higher steps (freedom) . He analyzes the contents and changes in the course of practice of the sphere of Natuture, Facts, Possibilities and Values, and analyzes the Self-Demonstration of Virtue is the integration of Reason’s Self–Understanding, Willing’s Self-Determination and Feeling’s Self-Realization. Meanwhile, he summed up the unity of the principle of Humanity and Nature and the problem of the Debate on Heaven and Man which interrelates with it. Second, human essence is the dialectical combination of Rationality and Non-rationality. The dynamical combination of Rationality and Non-rationality in practice shows as culture, which makes moral behavior of subject follows the principle of voluntarily which embodies the unity of the rational principle and the perceptual principle. He has scientifically answered the question of the Debated on Principle and Desire. Third, human essence is the unity of Specific and General characters, which lies in three aspects: the relation between individual and the society; individual consciousness and group consciousness, individual value and the social value, which shows the progressive
development of human essence is the synthesis of them. Feng Qi made a brief retrospection of the Debate on the Collective and Self, and puts forward
