Abstract
Bart on the study of literature and popular culture are mostly related to the disenchantment of ideology behind. Throughout his theoretical writings, from Mythology to zero writing”, then the death of the author, his criticism of ideology in literary and cultural discourse, are visible. Literary and cultural become symbolic, signifier be fixed, they were all obscured by the ideology with myths. Bart can not tolerate the camouflage of ideological myth. Therefore, dispel the myths made by ideology, is the important task of theoretical work for Bart. Thus form his unique disenchantment criticism.
Bart’s central concept of disenchantment criticism reflected in literary criticism is that the myths in the literary world must be crushed one by one. Bart put forward The Death of the Author, which based on the zero writing”, he ruins the king, namely the author, who is the guider of the absolute sovereign in the literature and myth world. Facing to the “only significance” which was deified in text, Bart emphasized “text”. He firmly believes that in the text, the practice of means has a broad space; it’s the important dimension of revaluing the value of the text. And when the focus transfers to the mass culture, facing up on the huge mythical Empire composed by all kinds of goods and phenomenon with fairy label, Bart uses Symbol Analysis to decode the myth of various cultural phenomena and reveal its invisible operation tools that is bourgeois ideology.
Regardless to the myth decoding to the author and text, or to the mass culture, in a word, it is to dispel the ideological shackles, restore a real world and free the people. This is the important clue that throughout Bart’s theory and practice, which based on the deconstruction, but beyond deconstruction. By combing Bart disenchantment critical practice, people can revalue Barts theory practice significance.
