It focuses on the morbidity and mortality of the notifiable infectious diseases occurring in Mainland China in 2013, the outbreaks of epidemics occurring world- wide, the current status of several emerging infectious diseases, and the new development of the diagnosis, treatment, prevention of common infectious diseases, suggesting that active efforts in the prevention and treatment of infectious diseases which are emerging, have pathogenic mutation and remain uncontrollable should be made.
