Chemical Spot Test - Place drop of substance on coated panel being tested, cover with watch glass for specified time, rinse with tap water. Since PVDF is a fluoropolymer it will not be affected by contact with most chemicals. * Prior to testing, the coating film thickness is measured. Using gravity, sand falls through a tube onto the coated panel until the coating is worn away and the first bit of substrate is showing. The volume of sand used to abraid the film is then determined. The coefficient is found by dividing the volume of sand by the original coating thickness. PVDF’s coefficient of 93.8 shows it has the best resistance to sand abrasion. * Panels placed in controlled chamber and exposed to salt solution. * Major difference is that superior performing coatings (2605-98) have 10 yr weathering standards instead of just 5 * Panels are placed in chamber and subject to UV light and moisture * The picture shows a test fence site in south Florida and the numerous coatings being tested.
