It uses China’s top-rate intensive English reading textbooks, textbooks compiled by teaching staff of the Department of English, and other reading materials the teacher deems beneficial to English learning. The course is taught in English. The teaching is generally comprised of two parts: The intensive reading focuses on advancement of students’ basic English abilities and their creative thinking, covering a wide range of aspects including English phonology, vocabulary, syntax, texture, rhetoric, cultural, etc. The extensive reading focuses mainly on expansion of students’ reading scope, so as to help students efficiently acquire information, knowledge, vocabulary and understand stylistic features from reading.
