The sample solution without chromogenic agentwas used as the blank solution, and the sterol content obeyed Lieberman-Burchard law in the range of0. 034~ 0. 344mg/mLw ith good linearity. The totalcontent of sterol in plant oil pitch was about 1211 and in the extraction the content of sterolwas about 7415 . The SD was 01 0603 ; the sample recovery ratewasbetween 9418 and 981 1 . Thismethodwas smi ple and thedetectionwas costs low. The color reaction was distinct, and color stabilization tmi ewas 015 hour. Themethodwould be suitable for corporations. laboratory, and offers it mi portant reference for the application of high-value components
