She was going to look for food for her family. Clara’s husband, Earl, was going to stay at home and take care of their egg. Clara told Earl to keep their egg warm. Clara Earl the egg 2 “Don’t forget to keep the egg warm, or else it won’t hatch!” Clara told Earl. “It’s scientific. The father penguin takes care of the egg while the mother looks for food. The penguins in our family have been doing things this way since ancient times.” But Earl looked worried. “What if I lose the egg?” Earl asked. “Don’t worry, silly!” said Clara. “Like I said, penguin fathers have taken care of eggs since prehistoric times. That is a long, long time. You’ll be fine.”  Before she left, Clara gave Earl a red scarf to keep him warm. Then Clara got on her tummy to slide into the ocean. “If there is an emergency, just ask one of the other penguins for help,” Clara said. “Bye! I love you!”
