This article focuses on the two themes that are related to each other closely. Key Words: A Mid-summer Night’s Dream; theme; love’s difficulty; dream 摘要:《仲夏夜之梦》是一部很受欢迎的喜剧。它包含两个主题:爱的艰难和梦。本文就这两个相互影响的主题展开讨论。 关键词:仲夏夜之梦;主题;爱的艰难;梦 An Analysis of the Themes of A Mid-Summer Night’s Dream Introduction The main plot of A Midsummer Nights Dream is very complex because it involves two sets of couples (Hermia and Lysander, and Helena and Demetrius) whose romantic cross-purposes are complicated still further by their entrance into the play’s fairyland woods where the King and Queen of the Fairies (Oberon and Titania) preside and the folk character of Puck plies his trade. Shakespeare wrote this play as a light entertainment to accompany a marriage celebration. The play is a pure comedy full of the element of fairy tale. There is no moral purpose. It is one of Shakespeare’s funniest and most popular comedies. The tone of the play is so lighthearted that the audience never doubts that things will end happily, and it is, therefore, free to enjoy the comedy without being caught up in the tension of an uncertain outcome.
