In addit ion to common methods of invest igat ion and mechan ic test ，r heology test of soft rock s ， colour video recording , field bearing t est ，pier analogue simulat ing have been adopt ed to treat the problems . T he pract ice has provided reliable dat a for bridge design ，which have been tested by successful construct ion of bridges ,and will be valuable experience for the future bridge construct ion in the middle and lower reaches of the Changj jang River .
