Abstract:Thedistribution andoccurrenceofpolycyclicaromatichydrocarbons (PAHs) producedduring cokinginthe Shougang cokingplant
hasbeen preliminarilystudied. Morethan40kindsofPAHsfromtheparticulatesandwastewaterhavebeendetectedinthecokingplant, nine
ofthemareprecedence2controlled pollutantsset byUSEPA. ManyPAHs arecarcinogenicandmutated. The content of benzo[a]pyrenein

TSPfromtheair on thetop of coking furnaceis 0171Lg# m , which is similarto that offlue soot derived from coal combustion. The
concentrationsofbenzo[a]pyreneandbenzo[k]fluoranthenefromthewastewater inthecokingplantare1338and64215timesasmuch asthe
standardset byInternationalPublicHealthEnvironmentalOrganization. TheD 13CvalueofPAHsfromtherawcoal, cokepowder, dustfall
andTSP inthecokingplant is - 24j , - 2813j , - 2618j and- 2715j separately, whichindicatingtheD 13CvalueofPAHsmaybe
usedto identifythe sourcesofenvironmental particulates, incompletecombustion ormiddleproductsofcoking. The studyresults indicatethat
PAHs insoot, coalparticles, cokeparticlesandwastewater emittedfrom cokingcanresult intheatmospheric, soil andwaterpollution.
