Improve the students’ reading skills,such as skimming,sccanning and careful reading. 3. Make the Ss get more information about the change of life in the future. Difficult and Important Points: Compare life in the past, at present and in the future What is life in the future like? What changes will take place? Teaching Methods: 1. Fast and careful reading, 2. Asking and answering question activity 3. Individual, Pair work group work Teaching Aids: A computer and a projector. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Warming up and Leading in 1.Show the students some pictures of a changing world and let them compare the life in the past, at present and in the future in many ways, such as transport, education,communication and houses. 2.Questions:Do you want to travel to the future? Do you want to know what it will be like in AD3008? In this period,we`ll read a letter and follow a boy Li Qiang to know more about the life in the year AD3008 ---------- First Impressions. Step 2. Reading 1. Skimming Ask the Ss to read the whole text quickly and try to grasp the general idea. What’s the text about? A. An e-mail written by a man who has taken up a trip to the future B.The man have his first try to master a hovering carriage. C.The man are surprised at the Wang ping’s home. D.The preparation of the trip. 2. Scanning Let the students read the text again and put the following sentences into the correct order: a. We were transported into the future by a comfortable time capsule. b. I arrived at Wang Ping’s home and everything in his house made me surprised. c. I won a travel to the year AD 3008. d.
