1.、To make the Ss have the a listening exercise.
2. To make the Ss grasp the present Passive Voice.
3. To make the Ss be able to use the new words and sentence patterns :local products ;avoid ;brand etc;
4. To make the Ss think about “made in China”.

3. He realized that Americans can hardly avoid buying products made in China.
4. Kang Jian thinks it’s great that China is so good at making these everyday things.

1. Talk about “Tea ”and lead into the new vocabulary.
Step 2. Listening
1. Play the tape and get the Ss answer two questions.
a. What two things did Kang Jian want to buy in America?
A. A handbag and a mobile phone.
B. A toy car and a pair of basketball shoes.
C. Some pet food and a mobile phone.
Where were they made? A. In China B. In France C. In Switzerland.(瑞士)
Step 3. Reading
Read the passage and answer the questions in Activity 3b 1-4.
2 . Play the tape for the Ss to read after it, and then get the Ss .write what the words in bold refer to. (Activity 3c)
Step 4. Exercise (Fill in the blanks)
Get the Ss to fill in the blanks.
Step 5. Discussion
Discuss the following questions:
What does Kang Jian think so many products in America are made in China ?
What do you think of “made of China”? How do you feel?
