Unit 13 Were trying to save the earth!
Section A Period 2 (2a-2d)
Step1 Revision and free talk:
1. Use some pictures to review all kinds of pollution. (The pictures are presented on PPT, students can say out the answers as quickly as they can.)
2. Free talk: Water pollution. (What caused it? What should we do?)
Give students two minutes to prepare.
After a student finishes his free talk, the others should answer some questions according to the free talk.
Step2 Listening:
1. Talk about the information in 2a, then listen and circle the answers.
2. Ask students to predict the answers to 2b.
3. Students read and translate the sentences in 2b with their predictions.
4. Listen to the tape, get the main idea, catch the key sentences, and fill in the blanks.
5. Listen and repeat, check the answers.
Step3 Make up new conversations:
1. Use the information in 2a and 2b to make up new conversations.
2. Work in pairs.
3. Act out conversations theyve practiced.
Step4 2d Role-play the conversations:
1. Read through the conversation in 2d and find the answers to the following questions quickly:
a. What does Jason want to do to cut down the air pollution?
b. Is it helpful to bring a bag while shopping?
2. Read the conversations carefully, fill in the chart:

Ways to solve the problem
air pollution
waste pollution
3. Stand up and read the conversations aloud in groups.
4. When students read and translate, they should find out the key points and sentences with partners.
a. What are your ideas for solving these problems?
b. There are other advantages of bike riding.
c. It’s good for health and it doesn’t cost anything.
d. And remember to throw rubbish in the bins and keep public places clean and beautiful for everyone.
e. So together, our actions can make a difference and lead to a better future.
5. Make new sentences with some of key phrases above.
