Aims of emotion: (1).Remind students of the importance of Chinese festivals. (2).Help students to realize that they should not get too crazy on western festivals. II. Teaching focus: Improve 4 skills III. Teaching method: Task-based teaching method IV. Teaching aids: A computer for multimedia use Teaching Procedures Step 1. Warm up: Let students listen and complete the song to cheer students up and lead in the topic today. Step 2. Brainstorms Check if students are familiar to the names of different festivals. Step 3. Learn about traditional festivals 1. Introduce the Spring Festival with students. Then let them introduce three more Chinese traditional festivals. 2. Check if students know about western festivals Activity1: The smartest brain---Answer the questions. Activity 2: The quickest mind ---Keep the festivals in order according the dates Activity 3: The acutest ears---Listen and complete the chart. Step 4. Story time 1. Look at the pictures and predict the story scene 2. Look at the pictures and fill in the blanks to complete the story Step 5. Project: Should students be allowed to celebrate Christmas? 1. Find different opinions of the people online and fill in the information card. 2. Discuss What’s your opinion? Do you think students should be allowed to celebrate Christmas Day? 3. Writing Ask students to write about their opinion. Before writing, give them some tips (writing skills). Step 6. Homework 1. Write about your opinion
