Module 4 A Social Survey—My Neighbourhood
(Introduction, Reading and Vocabulary)
Good morning, everyone. I am the No.12 candidate applying for senior high school English teacher. It’s my great honor to have this opportunity to share my teaching plan with you.
Today I will talk about my teaching plan from 6 parts, they are: analysis of the teaching material, analysis of students, teaching methods, learning methods, teaching procedures and blackboard design. And now I’ll explain the analysis of the teaching material first.
Part One: Analysis of the Teaching Material
This lesson is the Introduction,Reading and Vocabulary part of Module 4 A Social Survey—My Neighbourhood, student’s book 1, Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. As we all know, this module is about “neighbourhood”. In this module, we can learn something about neighbourhood. Through the study of the module, we can help Ss to develop the love of travel and learn about some people and their attitudes and experiences. The Introduction, Reading and Vocabulary part is helpful for students’ enlarge their related vocabulary and improve their reading skill. So it plays an important role in this unit.
The teaching aims are:
1. Knowledge objectives
To infer meaning from keywords, context and existing knowledge: apartment, apartment block, countryside, high-rise
Enable the students to describe the city of Xiamen.
2. Ability objectives
Enable the students to talk about their neighbourhood and know how to show position and direction.
Help the students to learn how to introduce or describe a city from different aspects, such as its location, climate, and famous tourist attractions etc.
Emotional objectives
To cultivate Ss’ cross-cultural competence.
Now I will talk about the teaching key and difficult points.
1. Key points:
The key point is to Learn how to describe the neighbourhood and give directions.
