To improve students’ reading and writing skills. Emotion aim: to love and give joy to people around us, spread happiness and warmth. Teaching Difficult Points: Students can retell the story fluently and understand the true meaning of Christmas. Try to understand the spirit of Spring Festival. Teaching Methods: Community language teaching, Task-based language teaching, computer-aided instruction. Teaching Aids: Multimedia, related materials like cards and pictures, blackboard Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Greeting and leading in Greet with students and begin a free talk on Christmas.”what will we think of when we talk about Christmas?” Show them some pictures, ask them a question:”Do you know the spirit of Christmas?” Step 2 Pre-reading Most of them have been attracted in the topic, so I will show them a short video to watch a short story on Christmas. Then ask them :”What do you think of the video?” Try to let the students feel the true meaning of Christmas. Step 3 While-reading At this period, The students will be asked to read the passage in 50 seconds and find out the structure of the passage. Then, learn the passage with 3 parts. Part 1 paragraph 1 The students will have 30 seconds and underline the true meaning of Christmas. Help them to understand what the following story is about. Part 2 paragraph 2-3 The students will have 1 minute to read the two paragraphs.underline the useful sentences and try to finish the task. The name of the novel, the writer, the main character and what he is like.
