The aim of this paper is to develop a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). The system will act as a secure repository for both public and proprietary data. The public repository will contain all the data from other public repositories as well as the data released by the researchers into the public domain. The secure repository will manage the data and maintain its privacy until the researcher who owns it shares it with the public. This secure repository needs login credentials that should be validated to access the system. It is this type of system that would be used to design the experiments that would be submitted to the LIMS system. Introduction The LIMS tracks each step from the sample submission up to and including the step where the results are returned. Once the results are available, the LIMS will inform the Discovery System. These results are securely stored to the Discovery System through the web service interface (both push and pull functionality is supported by the LIMS), where it is readily accessible to the researcher. If the researcher wants to couple the data from these samples with data from other samples from public domain, they can create a new experiment, and submit it to another facilitys LIMS for validation studies.
