Brief introduction Brief introduction Chinese people started to build gardens more than 2000 years ago. It first appeared as early as the 11th century BC during the Zhou Dynasty in the form of a hunting preserve for emperors and nobles. Garden building had its heyday(全盛期) during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Bridges Most of the bridges are of stone, including straight, winding and arched ones: The straight bridge consists of just one stone slab without any decoration. The winding bridges have low balustrades(栏杆).
