In recent years, with the carrying out of the opening-up policy, China has developed greatly in its tourism industry, and tourism has become one of the pillar industries. Now, more and more foreign tourists come to Luoyang for sight-seeing. Whats more, Luoyang, as an ancient capital of nine dynasties, is well worth visiting. Therefore, Luoyang is supposed to be an excellent place for foreign tourists to have a profound understanding of Chinese culture. However, there are some problems in C-E translation of tourism texts, which need to be further discussed and improved.
Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, this thesis takes Luoyang as an example to study tourism texts translation and proposes corresponding translation strategies and techniques on the basis of linguistic features, historical background and cultural factors.
First of all, this thesis briefly introduces the background and significance of the research. Secondly, the origin and development of skopos theory and its translation principles are introduced. Thirdly, the writer gives an overview of Chinese-English translation strategies of tourism texts, including the current situation of Chinese-English translation of Luoyang tourism texts and the characteristics of Chinese-English translation of tourism texts.
