The clock genes and their coding proteins compose the feedback loops of the circadian system. As for the regulating mechanism of circadian clock, the modification of core clock transcripts and proteins can significantly affect the phase of circadian clock in addition to the transcriptional regulation. This article briefly reviews the advances on some of the posttranscriptional and posttranslational modifications and their effects on the circadian clock, and also suggests the future research direction.
