Tolerance analysis planning: Once the project is started, the tolerances analysis issues have to be planned and aligned with the project schedule. This step can be see as the fine tuning of this flow inside the specific project. The output is the different support persons for the project, their respective tasks, the important dates (training, etc…), Tolerance analysis training: The mechanical team is trained regarding the designer level on the subject. The training material needs to be fine tuned to the project need. Together with the training a exercise session is realized with examples taken from the specific project if possible. This exercise session can be done right after the training or in a second time. Identification of critical parameters: As soon as possible, in respect with the requirements of the phone (functional, visual, assembly), the key dimensional parameters need to be identified. Their respective needed tolerance analyses are listed. The output is a preliminary list of tolerance analyses with a designer responsible for each of those. At this stage the designers can already start with their analyses. Review and prioritisation of the list: In a meeting with the “key” persons (team leader, tolerance expert, reliability expert, senior mechanical designer) the list is update and reviewed. Each analyses is ranked and the list is sorted in 2 priority levels (pre-E1 and pre-E1,5). Designer make the tolerance analyses: Once the list is completed and reviewed, each designer has a clear list of analysis to be done with the respective deadline (1st and 2nd priority).
