A Rose for Emily is a short story by the American author William Faulkner. Through the analysis of the distorted relationship between Emily and her Family, the conflict with town residents, the love for Homer Barron, and the relationship between Emily and the Negro, it can be seen that the restriction of family, the shelter of old generation in south America, the compromise of new generation, and the conflict of the old and new culture are the necessary causes of Emilys distorted character. And this paper also presents the influence and changes which the revolution brought into the people in South America.
