ABSTRACT
Over its 1,500-year existence, English has borrowed words from more than 350 other languages. Borrowing is a consequence of cultural contact between two language communities, borrowing of words can go in both directions between the two languages in contact. It is part of the cultural history of English speakers that they have always adopted loanwords from the languages of whatever cultures they have come in contact with. Loan words have greatly enriched the English language, which make the English expressions more vivid and appropriate. As a result, it occupies a very important position in the English language. This article tends to analyse the borrowed words in the English from the foreign languages.

摘 要
在英语1500年的历史中，借用了超过350语言，被称作“外来语”。外来语是外话交流的结果，词语的借用是相互的。英语在历史上吸收了大量跟它有过交流的语言词汇，今天外来语在英语中处处可见。外来语极大的丰富了英语词汇，使英语表达起来更加生动和贴切。因此外来语在英语中占有举足轻重的地位，本文拟分析英语的外来语。
