PAGE 1 Curriculum Enhancement Project Communications Subgroup Report to the Project Board Membership: Kelvin Tapley (Chair), Caroline Letherland, Janet Holt (Healthcare), John Smith (LUBS), David Bell (Geography) Anthea Connolly (Engineering), Stuart Lister (Law), Jennifer Hamlin (Biological Sciences), Sue Underwood (Central Comms Team), John Pudephatt (LUU), Mark Sewards (LUU), Samantha Mullany (Biological Sciences) The Communications Group has met twice (6 September and 18 October) since the last Project Board, with a focus on communication and consultation with staff, students and careers advisors. A high level summary of progress and planned activity are provided within the main body of the report. The Board is asked to: Review the communications plan for 2011/12 and provide a steer in relation to how we best communicate with staff and students about project progress. Consider whether the project update document succeeds in pulling together the different aspects of the project. Endorse the suggestion that a review of assessment methods across the University should be done in parallel with thinking about the Academic Year in light of feedback from the staff consultations. Volunteer names to answer questions on the Curriculum Project stand at the Student Education conference. Kelvin Tapley and Caroline Letherland Progress made since last Project Board Communication The website was launched via e-news to staff on 18 July as an internal information resource about the project. A QA session was held with the Chairs of the groups at the Directors of Student Education meeting on 7 October. There was general support for the project and a belief that the communication and consultation process had helped to inform people of progress. However, some of the feedback suggests we need to be mindful of staff perceiving the threads, broadening and academic year activity as separate initiatives, rather than relating to the same project.
