Chinese parents take great length to provide their children with the best living conditions. Ever since the children are born, Chinese parents would make sure that their children have the best milk powder which they consider is most nourishing. Chinese parents are extremely concerned about their children’s education. They start to make their children learn at an early age, so that their children can have the edge competing with other children for the best school. During the summer and winter vacations, the children are forced to study at cram schools so that they will not “waste” their valuable time. Some parents even move to big cities or foreign countries so that their children can have access to better education. What do you think of the Chinese traditional ways of learning, teaching by hand-holding? One of the advantages of teaching by hold-holding is that the learners can gradually grasp the fundamental skills without wasting a lot of time tumbling on unnecessary mistakes under the mentor’s guidance. However, this type of learning tends to be mechanical and tedious, which may take a toll on the learner’s enthusiasm and creativity.
