Many people think that countries have a moral obligation to help each other, while other argue that the aid money is misspent by the governments that receive it, so the international aid should not be given to the poor countries in the world. Discuss the two views of international aid, and give your opinion. It is sometimes argued that keeping poor countries?from?facing?poverty, to a certain extent, is the duty of relatively?affluent?nations. Meanwhile, some others disagree as the possibility that the aid money may be wasted on corrupt recipient governments is high. There is something to be said for each side of this question. On the one hand, developed countries are morally obligated to deliver aid to their poor counterparts. Foreign assistance from removal of poverty to helping tackle fatal diseases such as plague and AIDS can be seen as a just cause and something that only the rich nations have the ability to do. Thus, there is a role for them to play in stopping problems in disadvantaged countries. On the other hand, it is also easy to understand why some others consider impoverished countries should be stripped of aid money owing to the widespread of corruption, which usually is also the underlying reason of the laggard economy. The governments in fragile countries are not able to guarantee the correct use of every pound they receive due to the lack of effective supervision. Therefore, despite good intentions from donor countries, plenty of taxpayers money is filled in the pocket of corrupt politicians instead of being allocated to those in need. It is especially true for the areas where the law system and people’s awareness of personal right are weak. In my opinion, international aid should be continued as it achieves a win-win outcome. Help from rich countries enables poor ones to get out of the vicious cycle of poverty, enhancing the living standard of local people.
