Point of View Definition: • the vantage point from which readers observe the events of the story • whose eyes will be looking through as we are reading. Four categories: • the first person point of view • the second person • the third person • the multiple points of view. The first person • One character acts as the narrator, directly telling his or her own version of the events. He or she would relate his or her thoughts, experiences and observations of being the first person narrator. ➢ Jane Eyre ➢The Cather in the Rye ... The first person narrative is more intimate, authentic and more direct • shortens the distance between readers and writers. • makes the story more authentic. • allows the writer to express his feeling directly. The Second person is rarely used in narrative writings but it would be used in advertisement or letters.
