A Lively City 教学设计 Teaching aims: 1. To let students master some expressions, such as “It has been...since...; It is the first time...” 2. To let students master the method of reading a passage. 3. To let students know more about Xiamen and how to describe a city. Teaching importants points: 1.words and expressions, such as attractive, architecture, gorgeous, lively,tourist… 2.sentence structures: It has been...since...; It is the first time... Teaching difficult points: 1.How to master the method of reading a passage. 2. How to describe a city. Teaching methods: Task-based teaching approach; Communicative approach. Teaching procedures Step one: Pre-reading Ask students some questions, “Do you like travelling? Where have you ever been? Have you ever been to Xiamen?” Show some pictures of Xiamen and Gulangyu Island. Step two: While-reading (I) Skimming Ask students to read the dialogue quickly and silently, and then match the main idea with each part. Part 1(line1—line18) A. Introduction about Xiamen, such as the climate, the business district. Part 2(line19—line36) B. Western district of Xiamen, especially Gulangyu Island. Part 3(line37—line53) C. Greetings between Xiao li and John (II) Careful reading (A) Read part 1 and finish the following tasks. 1. What words do they use to describe the city and the people? 2. Translate the sentences.
