(2) To make sure the Ss use the adverbial clauses properly. (3) To make sure that the Ss can understand the life story of Li Ning, talk about his experiences and form their own understanding of sportsmanship. 2. Ability objectives: (1) To develop the Ss’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing (2) To guide Ss to set up effective studying strategies. (3) To improve the student’s reading ability, especially their skimming and scanning ability. 3. Emotion objectives: (1) To increase the Ss’ interest in sports and improve their physical quality. (2) To strengthen the Ss’ national pride. Part 2 Key Points and Difficult Points 1. The key points: (1) To review the words about sports and learn some new words; (2) To understand the whole passage and answer the questions. 2. The difficult points: To use the words to present the Ss’ own opinions fluently. Part 3 Teaching Methods To achieve the teaching aims, the following methods will be used: Communicative Approach Task-based Language Teaching Student-centered Teaching Audio-visual Teaching Computer Aided Instruction, CAI Part 4 Teaching Procedure Step 1. Lead-in: A picture is worth 1000 words. A song or an MV sometimes is better. This lesson will begin with a song which is the theme song of Beijing Olympics. It’s certain that it will bring us back to Beijing Olympics and call back some memories. As a result, we can go over the sports items with the Ss, which is actually the vocabulary exercise that we are going to do next. Step 2. Pre-reading: Task 1. List as many games as possible and check the ball games. Task 2. Match the words in the box with their meanings. Step 3. While-reading: Task 1. Read fast to find out the topic sentences for each paragraph. (skimming) Task 2. Watch the flash to help to get a better understand
