He was wrinkled and black, with scant gray hair. ? 他满脸皱纹，皮肤很黑，头发花白稀疏。 ? 什么是增词法？ ? 所谓增词法，就是在原文的基础上添加必要 的单词、词组、分句或完整句，从而使得译 文在语法、语言形式上符合译文习惯和在文 化背景、词语联想方面与原文一致起来，使 得译文与原文在内容、形式和精神等三方面 都对等起来。 一、根据意义或修辞上的需要 1. 增加动词 ? In the evening, after the banquets , the concerts and the table tennis exhibitions , he would work on the drafting of the final communiqué . ? 晚上在 参加 宴会、 出席 音乐会、 观看 乒乓球 表演之后，他还得起草最后公报。 ? 2. 增加形容词 With what enthusiasm the Chinese people are building socialism! ? 中国人民正在以多么 高 的热情建设社会主义 啊！ ? 3. 增加副词 The crowds melted away. ? 人群 渐渐 散开了。 ? As he sat down and began talking, words poured out. ? 他一坐下来就讲开了，滔滔不绝地讲个没完。 ? In the films of those days, all too often it was the some boy tractor driver meets girl tractor driver; they fall in love and drive tractors together. ? 在那时候的电影里，总是老一套：男拖拉机 手和女拖拉机手始而相遇，继而相爱，终而 并肩开拖拉机了。 ? 4. 增加名词 Day after day he came to his work--- sweeping, scrubbing, cleaning. ? 他每天来干活 —— 扫 地 ，擦 地板 ，收拾 房间 。 ? First you borrow, then you beg. ? 头一遭借 钱 ，下一遭就讨 饭 。 ? This typewriter is indeed cheap and fine . ? 这部打字机真是 价 廉 物 美。 ? 5. 增加表示名词复数的词 Flowers bloom all over the yard. ? 朵朵 鲜花开满了庭院。 ? There were rows of houses which he had never seen before. ? 一排排 的房子，都是他从来没见过的。 ? （增加重叠词表示复数） ? The lion is the king of animals . ? 狮子是 百 兽之王。 ? The mountains began throw their long blue shadows over the valley. ? 群 山已在山谷里开始投下蔚蓝色长影。 ? （增加数次或其他词表示复数） ? 6. 增加表达时态的词 The old man said: “They say his father was a fisherman. Maybe he was as poor as we are .” ? 老头说：“听人说， 从前 他爸爸是个打鱼的。 他 过去 也和我们 现在 一样穷。” ? I knew it quite well as I know it now. ? 我 当时 就知道的同现在一样清楚。 ?
