Economy The economy of South Sudan is one of the worlds weakest and most underdeveloped. South Sudan has little existing infrastructure and the highest maternal mortality and higher female illiteracy rates in the world. The countrys economy depends on oil. Oil is the backbone of our economy which account for 98% of GDP. The region also has got many natural resources  South Sudan Oil Fields South Sudan Oil Fields continue Agriculture South Sudan has great agricultural potential, of its 82 million-hectare land surface, more than 70% is estimated to be suitable for agriculture. Agriculture in South Sudan is still at subsistent level, many farmers have no access to mechanization or tractor use. All Agric schemes destroyed during the war. Mechanization was used in Government schemes before the civil war of 21 years and by then few farmers and individuals have access to tractor.Most of our food is imported from our neighbors   Agriculture product in South Sudan FORESTRY Forest Sector Environmental Impacts Deforestation is the dominant environmental and social- economic issue affecting the Forest Sector in South Sudan. The removal of trees has a range of very negative impacts including increased land and water resources degradation and the loose of livelihoods from Forest Ecosystems. ? Wildlife With extensive forests, lakes, rivers and sudd, South Sudan has extensive wildlife to rival that of East Africa. However, the civil war scattered or diminished the wildlife population.
