Teaching aims:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
read the information in a poster and practice their listening skills to finish some related exercises;
know how people celebrate the Chinese New Year;
talk about a different festival and how to celebrate it.
Teaching procedures:
Step1. Warming-up activities
review some festivals
Step2. “Festival Week”
Step3. Pre-listening activities
say something about different festivals (Dragon Boat Festival; Mid-Autumn Festival; Halloween)扫二维码,观看相应视频
Chinese New Year
T: Could you say some words relating to the Chinese New Year?
What did you do to celebrate it last year?

read the poster and answer questions:
When do they have the party?
Where do they have the party?
What activities are there?
Step4. Listening activities
listen and complete the table 扫二维码,听听力
complete a passage in PartA3 填好答案,读短文,录音,上传到微信群;
随机挑选学生录音,核对答案,评价英语语音,给出建议
Step5. After-listening activities
group work 各小组扫二维码查看相应任务,合作完成
Task1: write an e-mail to introduce the Chinese New Year to our New Zealand friends.
Step6. Consolidation
activity (group work):
work in groups to complete a certain task (扫二维码,查看相应任务;录制视频,Airplay同屏展示)
2. enjoy a poem about Christmas
Step7. Homework
write a passage about how to celebrate Christmas;
search for more information about your favourite festival on the Internet and share it with your friends.
