PAGE PAGE 25 基于语料库的母语负迁移对英语专业写作影响的研究 The Research of Negative Transfer in English Majors’ writing --Based on the English Corpus of Zhejiang Gongsahng 1 Chapter one Introduction 1.1 Background of the study English writing lesson is an important obligatory course for English majors. It is designed to expand students thinking, as well as to improve and develop English majors writing skills. College English Curriculum Requirements clearly states: students should be able to finish general writing tasks, as to describe personal experiences, perceptions completely and express events correctly, etc; students can write common practical passages and use basic writing skills to write essays no less than 200 words on the general topic or outline within half an hour. However, in the actual process of English writing, it is found that students don’t do well in writing, and there are various errors. If we can not find out the causes of these errors in students writing, and thoroughly correct these problems, these errors will continue to affect the students writing, restrict students’ improvement of language proficiency. Johanna Myles (2002), a British scholar, pointed out that in the process of second language writing, the errors showed by learners can be divided into two categories, one type of errors is a social one, it’s a cognitive factors which will lead to the other type. And the other type of errors is due to the negative transfer of native language. In fact, language learning is a process of habit forming and behavior forming. In the process of second language learning, the previous language system is firmly established, and will have an impact on the process of mastering a new language system. When some characteristics of native speakers are similar or exactly the same to the characteristics of second language, the previous language system will have a positive effect to the second language learning, this kind of effect is so called positive transfer of native languag
