Obtain_pH_curves_for_acid分析和总结分析和总结.pdf

Obtain pH curves for acid-alkali titrations ? KCl /fatherofchemistry Objective To obtain pH curves for the titrations between 4 combinations of acids alkalis: strong acid vs. strong alkali, strong acid vs. weak alkali, weak acid vs. strong alkali, weak acid vs. weak alkali. And using these curves to choose suitable indicators for different titrations. Principle In this experiment, we can use a magnetic stirrer and pH meter connected to a computer for convenience. From the pH curve, we can find the equivalence point. Since different acid-alkali titration has different equivalence point. We need to find out the suitable indicators for these titrations which has the end point (the point at which the indicator changes its colour) as close to the equivalence point as possible. The experimental set-up is shown below: Chemicals 3 3 0.100M CHCOOH, HCl, NH and NaOH, pH 7.0 buffer Apparatus burette, pipette filler, pH meter connected to computer, beaker, magnetic bar stirrer, filter funnel, stand with clamp Procedure ※※※ NOTE: Your data logging software may be different from me, but their operations should be similar ※※※ 1. Connect the pH electrode to computer as shown above. 2. Place the pH electrode into pH 7.0 buffer. Turn on the signal convertor and press set pH 7 to calibrate the pH. Stay it in the buffer. 3 3. Pipette 25.0 cm of 0.100M HCl into a large beaker. Add a small magnetic bar and stand the beaker on a magnetic stirrer. 3 4. Fill a burette with 0.100M NaOH until 0.00 cm graduated level is reached. 5. Set up the apparatus as shown above. 6. Turn on the magnetic stirrer at a very low speed. 7. Adjust the magnetic bar by moving the beaker until its centred. Carefully immerse the pH electrode which has been rinsed thoroughly. If the water l
