The plan proposed by Secretary Xi Jinping is aimed at improving the coverage of the social security system for Chinese residents and making the social security system benefit every citizen in China. By the end of June 2019, 947 million people, 200 million people and 245 million people were covered by basic old-age insurance, unemployment insurance and work-related injury insurance nationwide, respectively, an increase of 4.43 million, 3.28 million and 6.5 million respectively over the end of the previous year. Good results have been achieved, but it is still very difficult to continue to expand the coverage of social security.
